The first half of the season has now concluded and the Corps moves into a well deserved two week break for the summer holiday period.  Since the last news release the Corps has been hard at work adjusting the show from Warrington, which was well received at our first BYBA show this year.  Reflecting over a busy period of time, the Corps has attended the Glassmen Show and clinic, which turned out to be a worthwhile experience for the members even though the Corps was not performing.  The day turned out to be a long hot journey there and back with the benefits of allowing members to watch our peers perform and to allow our younger members to experience the sight and sounds of the Glassmen.

We also had an unexpected call up from the Santa Clara Vanguard offering Rob Quick a soprano spot, and within the space of a week Rob was heading to California to meet up with the Corps.  Obviously we have taken another hit to the Brass in which Norm and the Bottom Bass team have handled well in the interim period.

July weekend the Corps managed to fit in the Gig at the Grove on the Saturday evening followed with a church parade on the Sunday Morning prior to competing at the show.  The following day the Corps managed a church parade followed by the BYBA show at Mid-Summer Norton in which both the Senior Corps and Cadets performed.  Aldershot finished the first half of the season with the Corps coming second.  The remainder of the shows see the Corps competing at the following shows:

3 Sep 06 - DCUK Grantham
17 Sep 06 - DCUK Newport
30 Sep 06 - DCUK Finals

During the break I managed to get over to Madison to catch up with Rob, Dan and Harrison.  In between the break the members still managed to host social events at random member’s houses and reports of barbeques and bouncing on trampolines past mid night were a daily occurrence.  The first rehearsal back has seen the Brass grow in numbers and by camp we have now filled all the Corps spots.
August camp was very productive with fitting Harrison and Erin in the drill and by the end of the camp the whole Corp has completed all the drill with just the Ballad to be completed.  Our American friends were treated to an evening of Karaoke at the Tewkesbury Rugby club in which some surprises of who could sing and who thought they could.  I think this was our version of X Factor!

The Corps is now focused on the 2nd half of the season with lots of additions added to the programme.  The visual book is clearer with the gaps filled and each section is striving for excellence.  I am sure the Corps will make an impact.  A lot of work has been going on in the back ground and this would not have happened without the hard work put in by the staff and parents in which the Corps truly appreciates.
