The 2006 season is now over and the Corps is already looking forward to the 2007 season in which we intend to continue our journey with innovated performing programmes. Like any season we all look forward to a rest and a chance to re-organise prior to starting on the road again. Before we can do this we had a couple of season milestones to get through first. This started with two of our members wedding. This was not just any wedding, as everyone in the Corps knew how much planning had gone into the day throughout the season. With the lead up of stag nights, paint balling and of course hen nights, we finally got to the wedding day. First of all we had the day in which vows were exchanged on the Friday, followed by Martin Smiths band 'Up The Function' to top off the night’s entertainment for all those who attended on the Friday. By the time we all turned up for the wedding breakfast on Saturday afternoon we were filled in by the events of the night, which resembled a night at the Pontins music festival. With shouts of “honest Gov it was not me” we knew that Boxy had been blamed for the mist mina with the Ice cream float.
The surroundings were fantastic at the Great Tythe Barn in Tetbury. The wedding party greeted us and we moved to our tables complete with Drum Corps images to guide the guests to their respected tables. The food and company was outstanding and of course the banter made the night. The day will be remembered by everyone for a long time and we wish Deice and Dave all the very best for the future.
Following the wedding we moved to one of the most important nights of the year, presentation evening. As usual the members kicked the night off with the traditional trips in limos. It was great to see that we were also joined by members from Kidsgrove Scouts, Black Knights and Senators who were all made welcome. In total we had 103 guests including members, staff, parents and old members of the 37th.
The night started with clips from the 2006 tour DVD, which opened the proceedings followed by the awards. After thanking our support staff for all the hard work in supporting the Corps throughout the season, we said farewell to 3 of our age outs, Dan, Norm and Darren. This was followed by the presentation of certificates to the staff, again recognising their skills and talent in producing a challenging programme. The member awards were then presented by the captions:
